Notice of Parish Council meeting

Dear Councillor,

You are hereby summoned to attend a meeting of Folkingham Parish Council to be held:

Public forum rules

The following rules apply in accordance with Folkingham Parish Council’s Standing Order 1:

  • Council meetings shall be open to the public unless the Council resolves that the public should be excluded because of the confidential nature of the business or for another special reason. Any resolution to exclude the public must give the reason for the exclusion.

  • Members of the public may make representations, answer questions and give evidence concerning business on the agenda.

  • The period allocated for public participation shall not exceed 15 minutes unless otherwise directed by the Chair.

  • Each member of the public may speak for no more than three minutes.

  • A question does not require an immediate response and shall not start a debate. The Chair may direct that an oral or written response be provided.

  • A person wishing to speak should raise their hand, except where a disability or discomfort makes this difficult.

  • Comments and questions must be directed to the Chair.

  • Only one person may speak at a time. If more than one person wishes to speak, the Chair will determine the order of speakers.

Once the public forum has closed and the formal Council meeting has begun, members of the public may only speak if invited to do so by the Chair.
